“Energy” has become an important terminology in the current lifestyle. In the past 100 years, the human lifestyle had changed to consume more “Energy”. We all know, “Energy surrounds us and flows through us”. And it becomes very important to use “Energy” in a proper way to maintain the “balance to life”. Improper usage would lead us to “Dark Side”.

When the Industries started booming in 1950s’, the prime source of energy were Coal and Oil which were available in abundant. It was easy to burn fossil fuel and get energy easily. The effect of the Green House Gases (GHG), mainly Carbon Dioxide (CO2) was realised in late 1980s when Global Warming started.

Internationally there are many conferences conducted and many countries agreed to reduce the emission of CO2 by reducing the usage of fossil fuels for generation of energy. This calls for new technologies to explore alternate energy source mainly renewable sources like Solar, Wind, Hydel etc.

However, the industrial and commercial systems were conceived for higher energy consumption and it becomes very difficult to cater to the alternate energy source due to the cost impact. In some cases, the capital cost of such renewable source is not commercially feasible.

Hence it is important that Industries and Commercial Establishments to analyse their usage of Energy at every stage and optimise the whole system and process for effective and efficient use of Energy.

In our common daily life, 40 years back junk food culture came in daily life. This was fancy. However, improper and excess consumption developed obesity and related complications. An awareness came in to generate “Healthy Life Style” and many of us started following the same in daily life. Even Junk Food outlets started offering “Balanced” food that reduces the harm.

The same culture is being developed in Industries to use Energy Efficiently and it has been proven that those who adopted Process and Energy Efficiency measures, reaped the benefits of Commercial Benefits apart from contribution to Sustainability.
